Day Out With Thomas brings Thomas & Friends to life with a full-size Thomas train and other fun, family-friendly activities that little conductors everywhere are sure to love. Let the legendary, larger-than-life train take your children for a ride they'll never forget! Your day will be packed with roundhouse tours of steam locomotives, railroad hobo songs and a railroad turntable feat of strength. Thomas storytelling, photos with Sir Topham Hatt™ and rides on the beloved cars immerse tiny conductors in the beloved world of Thomas.
Additionally, on the first day of the event for the first time ever, The Henry Ford Museum will host a special Sensory Friendly Saturday that is designed for guests on the autism spectrum and with other sensory processing disorders. There will be an early opening at 8:00 am with Day Out With Thomas Depot Town activities beginning at 8:30 am and a quiet area with activities available all day in Town Hall. Noise-cancelling headphones and earplugs will be available along with a social narrative created by the Autism Alliance of Michigan showing what families might see, hear, smell and touch. The 9:30 am ride that day will be exclusively for Sensory Friendly Saturday guests.
Dates: April 29-30, May 6-7, 13-14, 2017
"A great way to try out Detroit restaurants is to log onto Groupon ... It helped us breakout of our normal routine, visit more and it has spiced things up a bit for my traveling girlfriends group."
