Detroit, Mich. – Lincoln Park resident Carol Szalay was honored as the Restaurant Category Winner at last night’s (Wednesday Aug. 24, 2016) Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Recognition of Service Excellence (ROSE) Awards. Szalay, who is a the Senior Restaurant Supervisor at The Dearborn Inn – A Marriott Hotel was among more than 200 hospitality superstars that were recognized at the ceremony that took place at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Szalay has shown exemplary service to the guests and staff of The Dearborn Inn – A Marriott Hotel. Many say she brightens up any room she walks into because of her contagious positive attitude. From small gestures to the occasional larger acts of generosity, Carol gives her clients a reason to return.
Szalay helps keep The Dearborn Inn’s guest satisfaction scores for restaurant service in the top ten within the Marriott brand. She leads the team with a positive attitude and is always the first to offer assistance to anyone who may need it. She books many large parties for the restaurant which are always carried out flawlessly. Szalay always has a smile on her face and is an excellent examples for her employees and co-workers and contributes to making a better experience at the hotel as a whole.

ROSE Award nominations were provided by clients, guests, supervisors and the general public. One winner in each of six categories was chosen by a panel of expert hospitality professionals, along with one Overall Service Champion.
Szalay received dinner for two at London Chop House, a $100 Visa gift card, two Detroit Tigers game tickets, the prestigious crystal ROSE Award, one dozen red roses, a bottle of champagne and an announcement in Visit Detroit Magazine and on visitdetroit.com.
WXYZ's Glenda Lewis served as mistress of ceremonies for the evening, which included entertainment by Jeremy Ellis –d Electronic Musician, Beth Griffith and DJ Kevin.
The event was sponsored by the Detroit Institute of Arts, Unite Here Detroit Local 24, the Detroit Tigers, Full View Productions, Wesley Berry Flowers, Cavalier Pictures, Don Graham and Joe’s Gourmet Catering and Events.
