CITY COMPARISON

comparison_wide2.jpg

To assist in your destination selection process, the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau has prepared the chart below. We've taken statistics that meeting planners have indicated are important to them and done a city-by-city comparison.

You'll find that Detroit compares favorably to many other Midwestern cities in most categories.

And there's more good news. Our stock of available hotel rooms will continue to increase in the next few years with the addition of three 400-room casino hotels and the restoration of historic hotels like the Westin Book Cadillac. The MGM Grand and MotorCity Casino hotels open in 2007, and the Greektown Casino hotel and Westin Book Cadillac will open in 2008.

Newer facilities like Ford Field, the domed, 65,000 seat stadium, mean more options for meeting planners. And getting here has never been easier with the 2002 opening of the state-of-the-art Northwest WorldGateway terminal at Detroit Metro Airport.

Thanks in great part to that terminal, passenger satisfaction at Metro Airport has soared. In a 2002 J.D. Power & Associates survey of more than 10,000 airline passengers from around the world, Metro Airport tied for second place among U.S. airports and fourth place internationally.

We continue to improve our tourism product. That's why such prestigious events as Super Bowl XL in 2006, the MLB All-Star Game in 2005, the 2004 Ryder Cup and the 2003 AAU Junior Olympic Games have all chosen Detroit as their host.

Our convention sales staff stands ready to provide further information on bringing your meeting or convention to Detroit.
