On August 6, the Michigan Science Center will be partnering with the Live Coal Gallery as we host the premier of their film, Aired Out Quilts! Aired Out Quilts is a project that tells the oral histories of eight residents of the Greater Detroit area. These quilts use colors, textures, and patterns woven together to create intricate scenes that help share the stories of individuals who have lived in neighborhoods that are either distinct, in transition, enduring or on the edge of abandonment. The project began with these nine individuals “airing out” these quilts by hanging them up outside their homes. The project has been an inspiration for many in the community and has since been turned into a documentary by TBOP Media, set to premier at the Michigan Science Center on the 6th!
Tickets for this show are available online and at the door, but tickets are limited so it is best to purchase them ahead of time.
