The Amalgam Art Collective is a synthesis of mixed media artists that are local to Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Detroit. Each artist comes from a unique background of teachings in art. Without the intent of similarities in their work, they come together to create a cohesive balance in displaying their pieces, creating a sense of pride by gaining the ability to discuss, critique, and express their passions. The group consists of four painters and two photographers. Formed in 2018, they have exhibited at the 333 Midland_Annex Gallery in Highland Park and Gallery Bypass in Detroit.
This eclectic group represents figurative, abstract, literal, and organic works of art that speaks to a wide audience… in unexpected ways. Each artist has a different approach to speaking their artistic language through their mediums, hoping to capture their experiences. Although each of the artists continue to pursue individual exhibitions, they’ve moved beyond the solo endeavor to share collectively. With exhibiting group shows, they hope to encourage others to share their artistic experience through this kind of collaboration.
