About this event: Get in the spirit by shopping local in Detroit's Black Business District., The Avenue of Fashion! Located in Northwest Detroit, Livernois has long been the heart of retail in Detroit. We will visit shops that are new to the Avenue within the last few years, as well as the older businesses that have been anchors in the community for decades. We will also learn about community efforts in place to make the area a better place to live, work, and shop. From art, to baked goods, to fresh apparel, there's a little something for everyone on the ave. Total Walking Distance = ~1 mile Tour will begin with an opportunity to purchase a hot drink to keep you warm throughout the tour. Weather Policy: Tours will occur indefinitely, rain, snow or shine, unless a severe weather warning is issued by the national weather service on the date of the tour for the time of the tour. Weather related cancellation or ticket transfer requests will not be approved unless submitted at least 48 hours in advance of the event start time. If a severe weather warning or event causes the tour to be cancelled, City Institute will offer to transfer participant tickets to another date or provide a refund.
