2023-02-04 00:00:00America/DetroitWhite Lake Winter Carnival & Fireworks The event permits are submitted and waiting approval! The lake is starting to freeze! Time to get your broomball teams formed and ready to play! The WLCL is planning (hoping) to have the Winter Carnival again this year (weather and ice permitting). We will have the same activities as last year. Broomball, kids sled rides, corn hole, fowling, giant jenga, kids scavenger hunt and of course, FIREWORKS to close the day! There will be several changes to improve safety and comfort for all spectators and participants due to the large crowd and number of vehicles on the ice this past February. These changes are required to obtain the necessary event permits. The changes are as follows: White Lake Township and Oakland County Sheriff officers will be present helping with traffic control both on the roads and on the ice as well as stopping any unsafe activities and enforcing No Parking on Jackson Blvd and Ormond Road. No vehicles (cars, trucks, snow mobiles, ATV's, motorcycles) will be allowed to enter or exit the ice by the White Lake Inn. The Winter Carnival area and the fireworks safety fallout area will be marked off and posted. No vehicles will be allowed in the marked off areas and spectators must stay outside the fireworks safety area. The Winter Carnival area will run from the just west of the White Lake Inn on Jackson Blvd to the tip of Dawson's Island and over to the east shore of the lake. See the drawing on Facebook. Porta-Potties will be rented for the event to reduce the long bathroom lines experienced in 2022. Please inform friends of these changes before they arrive. If you would like to help with any of these activities please contact us at carnival@wlcl.org Put it on your calendar and stayed tuned for more updates. UPDATE...there will be a 20-30ft passage on the east side of Dawson's Island for ATV and snowmobile passage to the west of the fireworks fallout zone! White Lake
