On-the-edge-of-your-seat excitement defines the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, held on Detroit's scenic Belle Isle Park in late May to early June each year.
The Detroit Grand Prix isn't just for mega race fans — people of all ages gather on Detroit’s island park to smell the burning of rubber and hear the roaring of engines of some of auto racing’s biggest names. In past years, the event has featured the cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the high-flying trucks of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks presented by Traxxas and the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.
There’s also a number of exciting engagement activities in the Meijer Fan Zone. The MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage features live music all weekend. Fans can get a bite to eat or something to drink in the beer garden and food court, featuring local vendor trucks and more. There's a popular Detroit Sports District featuring interactive displays from Detroit professional sports teams. A paddock area is like a “locker room of racing” with an up-close view of the teams getting ready to floor it. Plus, there are usually autograph sessions on the schedule with the stars of participating series there to sign your T-shirt or you can pick up official gear within the midway.
The Grand Prix is a thrilling, authentically Detroit experience, a crowd favorite on Detroit's Autopalooza lineup. A great way to experience the thrill of racing, the riverfront and lush landscape of Belle Isle Park in the city where the car was invented.
