By 1929, making and distributing illegal alcohol, or rum-running, was Detroit's No. 2 industry behind automobiles. In the roaring 20’s, Detroit fueled prohibition that didn’t follow the rules. What better place to have an Alcoholiday?! Learn about the Eastern Market as you explore it with a local guide on a walking tour. We will stop at Vivio’s Detroit which has been family owned since 1967 and originally served the surrounding German community. Enjoy one of their original Award-Winning Bloody Mary’s served with a pickle spear, lime, and beer chaser! We will then make our way to the Eastern Market Brewing Company which was founded by Dayne Bartscht was sitting on the back porch of his Michigan farm with friends discussing what to do with an empty barn. They decided to start a brewery as a side hustle and opened its first location in 2017. Enjoy a flight of their delicious beer! If distilleries are your thing, we stop at Detroit City Distillery where eight childhood friends started a small distillery to make alcohol the old fashioned way. Detroit City Distillery creates small batch artisanal whiskey, gin and vodka using the finest local ingredients sourced directly from farms near the distillery. The result is a drink of distinction made for the revolutionaries rewriting the history of a great American city. Enjoy one of their specialty cocktails made with their own spirits!
