What started as a simple family-owned farm in 1813 has evolved into a unique destination for metro Detroiters. Throughout the years – and six generations – Westview Orchards has grown to span 188 acres along both side of Van Dyke Avenue.
From July to April, its farm market is filled with homegrown freshness, including strawberries, apples, peaches, cherries, pears, nectarines, sweet corn, raspberries and fall vegetables.
On Saturdays and Sundays from Labor Day weekend through Halloween, Westview offers 25 acres of cider mill fun, including a petting farm pavilion, a three-acre playground, wagon rides, a 40-foot slide and a six-acre corn maze. Plus, there’s a nighttime corn maze that ends with a campfire complete with kettle corn, hot cider, caramel apples and doughnuts for purchase.
If you’re looking for a night out, Westview can accommodate that too. On Thursday evenings, the winery offers a guided experience that includes four wine flights, a souvenir wine glass and savory appetizers made with some of Westview’s unique products. You can also stop in for a tasting or to enjoy a glass of wine on Fridays, Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.
Best of all, since Westview Orchards Cider Mill is open nearly year-round, they are open for school and group tours and can host family reunions, birthday parties, company parties and more.
