31st ANNUAL CONCERT OF COLORS ANNOUNCES SATURDAY, JUNE 3, CONCERT OF COLORS WITH MEXICANTOWNCDC CONCERTS

The public is invited to experience the vibrant and multifaceted Latino music culture by attending the free 31st Annual Concert of Colors in Mexicantown, presented in collaboration with MexicantownCDC.

Concert of Colors comes to Mexicantown for part one of the summer festival

WHEN: 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 – FREE ADMISSION

WHERE: Mexicantown Concert Area: Mexicantown Plaza at 21st and Bagley

WHO: Concert of Colors with Mexicantown Community Development Corporation announces a full day of free live music to launch the 2023 Concert of Colors.

DETAILS: The public is invited to experience the vibrant and multifaceted Latino music culture by attending the free 31st Annual Concert of Colors in Mexicantown, presented in collaboration with MexicantownCDC. Enjoy an exciting mix of live musical performances featuring a diverse range of talented artists, including Las Cafeteras, RicanStruction, Camilla Cantu, Gabriel Duran, Ballet Folklorico Raíces Mexicanas, DJ Cisco, and Violines Cromáticos at the Cesar Chavez Upper Elementary. Immerse yourself in the dynamic and varied sounds of Las Cafeteras and Detroit’s local talent for an unforgettable experience.

Then the 31st Annual Concert of Colors continues at the Detroit Institute of Arts July 19-23, 2023 lineup announcement soon! Enjoy vendors, dance, food trucks, information tables and more!)

“We’re thrilled to share that we’ve joined forces with Concert of Colors for the upcoming pre-event, Concert of Colors with MexicantownCDC. The showcase will include performances by the renowned band Las Cafeteras from Los Angeles, and five beloved local performers. The event will take place at Mexicantown Plaza and lead up to the eagerly awaited annual July Concert of Colors.” Raymond Lozano, Mexicantown Community Development Corporation Executive Director. “It is a natural fit to align with The Concert of Colors’ mission to celebrate diversity and bridge cultural differences through music. We welcome everyone to this wonderful, colorful event of music and dance.”

ABOUT CONCERT OF COLORS: Over its significant 30 year history, the Concert of Colors in Detroit has grown into a celebrated, beloved summer festival. It started in response to the horrific murder of Vincent Chin – as an effort to bridge cultural differences through arts, music, culture and conversation. Today it is one of the few remaining large-scale, free-admission music festivals in the area.

MexicantownCDC has been preserving and promoting Latino culture, history, and art in the Mexicantown area of Southwest Detroit since its establishment in 1989.
