If you’re downtown during the winter season, lace up your ice skates and go for a spin (or a shuffle) around the rink at Campus Martius Park in the heart of downtown Detroit. A perfect excuse to hold hands.

Lose Your Heart in Hockeytown

For our first “official” date, my hockey-loving husband got us tickets to see his beloved Red Wings. Although I had never been to a game, the excitement of cheering on the Wings at the Joe easily won me over. And discussing the rules of the game was a good conversation starter.

Step out of your comfort zone and head to Vicente’s for Cuban food and salsa dancing every Friday and Saturday night. Don’t worry if your moves are rusty, they offer lessons!

Planning an evening at one of Detroit’s three casinos can be a good bet. Up the ante and make it a staycation when you book an overnight stay at Greektown Casino-Hotel, MotorCity Casino-Hotel or MGM Grand Detroit. Add in a relaxing dinner, tickets to a live show and maybe even a spa treatment for some quality time with your someone special. You deserve it!
