May 24, 2023

DETROIT – Kick off summer and celebrate 120 years of a Detroit icon at the Pewabic House & Garden Show, June 8-11, presented by Strategic Staffing Solutions.

“We are excited to celebrate 120 years of Pewabic handcrafting ceramics in Detroit, with the amazing community that has made this milestone anniversary possible!” explains Pewabic Executive Director Steve McBride.

On Thursday, June 8, the show begins with a ticketed Preview Party Fundraiser featuring a strolling supper and cocktails by Two Unique Catering, decor provided by Display Group and live music by Ben Sharkey. Attendees are the first to shop Pewabic’s new Summer Collection releases and an auction featuring Detroit experiences and one-of-a-kind Pewabic ceramics.

The House & Garden Show continues free and open to the public Friday June 9th – Sunday June 11th. Shop Pewabic’s newest iridescent glaze, tiles and jewelry, alongside ceramic art by more than 50 artists from throughout North America, including large-scale sculptures.

Visitors can watch live sculpting by artist Pamela Timmons and wheel throwing demonstrations by Pewabic artisans. The National Historic Landmark Pottery building will be open for strolling tours of the studios and for guests to learn about Pewabic’s 120 year history in Detroit in the expanded museum exhibition “Pewabic: Detroit’s Pottery.”

On Saturday and Sunday, Pewabic’s courtyard becomes a biergarten featuring live music and food trucks. Enjoy music by the Ben Teague Trio and food from Papelon Arepa Bar on Saturday and tunes by Stereo Babe and food from Delectabowl on Sunday.

“This is a chance to enjoy a fun-filled weekend at one of Detroit’s most iconic cultural destinations,” explains McBride. “We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to the pottery to experience the magic of ceramic art.”
