Overview
All are invited to join in the Annual Marche du Nain Rouge, a parade made up of the citizens of Detroit. Just show up!
Be a part of Detroit's famous Marche du Nain Rouge, where revelers chase away evil spirits and welcome the arrival of spring.
The Marche du Nain Rouge is one of Detroit's most unique and beloved annual events. This quirky parade and celebration dates back to the city's founding, when a red dwarf was said to have cursed the city. Today, locals and visitors alike come together to chase away the Nain Rouge and celebrate the city's resilience and community spirit. The parade is a spectacle of costumes, music, and general merriment, and it's a must-see for anyone looking to experience the eclectic energy of Detroit.
Noon: Gather at the intersection of Canfield and Second, for a celebration of Detroit with live entertainment.
1:30 p.m.: We parade west on Canfield, south on Second eight blocks , then circle Cass Park before heading back towards the Masonic Temple. You are the parade, so come masked or fully costumed. Bring a marching band. Wear a costume. Build a human-powered float. Put on a mask, cover your body in biodegradable glitter -- whatever it takes.
