National publications are catching on to what Detroiters already know. Our fair city has a bustling and exciting food scene--and it's only getting better. After years of population decline, Detroit has stabilized and for the first time in more than 50 years, there has even been population growth. As people move into the city and tourism continues to grow, restaurants are emerging offering a variety of cuisines for every palate.
From brunch spots to sports bars and even fine dining, Detroit's Black restaurant scene is diverse and as rich as the city's cultural heritage. We think Black History Month 2025 is a great time to support some of Detroit's newest Black-owned restaurants. Visit Detroit has compiled a list of these restaurants for you to taste and enjoy.
