Things To Do in Detroit in November
Story By: Amelia Ritter
November is an awesome time to visit Detroit! You can still enjoy the best of fall with cider mills, fall color, and the last little bit of warm weather.
But winter lovers can rejoice as we begin to welcome the season and get festive downtown and in the metro area! Mark your calendar with a few of these events as you plan your next visit.

Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) festivities usually take place from October 28 to November 2 each year in Mexico and are celebrated in Latin American countries, the US, and Canada as well. The annual celebration is a time for families to gather, honor and remember deceased loved ones. It is believed that the souls of the dead return to visit the living relatives in homes, businesses, and cemeteries. You can celebrate in Detroit with the following events:
Día de los Muertos on the Detroit Riverfront – October 29
Ofrendas: Celebrating el Día de Muertos at the Detroit Institute of Arts – through November 6
Candlelight Día De Los Muertos: Celebrating the Day of the Dead at Masonic Temple – November 3
Run of the Dead in Southwest Detroit – November 5
Columbia Street Fall Festival – through November 13
The festival features an urban pumpkin patch experience with fall décor, games and activities, and mouth-watering food and beverage specials. Columbia Street restaurants JoJo’s ShakeBAR, Union Assembly, and Frita Batidos will each offer seasonal menu specials throughout Fall Fest.
Detroit Lions Tailgates at Eastern Market – November 6 and 24
Get amped up for the Lions game with a tailgate at Eastern Market! Proceeds made from tailgating go to support Eastern Marker’s mission of operating their markets, providing greater access to good food, and growing local food businesses.
Welcome in the Holiday Season
Whether you turn on the holiday music and break out the decorations when Halloween is over, or if you savor the last bit of fall and wait until after Thanksgiving to celebrate, there are events happening all over the Detroit metro area to welcome in the holidays! Check out the best ways to celebrate:

Light and Joy in the Holiday Season at the Henry Ford Museum – November 19 – January 8
America’s Thanksgiving Parade – November 24
