Overview
Long awaited for newly renovated art gallery for internationally acclaimed Detroit artists Linda + Theodore Schinkel exhibit artwork exploring the sublime to unlock dreams. The mother + son duo have been collaboratively creating original contemporary art since 2010. Their Metalaverse artworks - a trinity of Metalagram, Metalamirror and Metalamix all speaking to their original artist processes that are exhibited throughout the gallery and backyard greenery private courtyard. This artwork is explained by Marshall McLuhan's theorum "The medium is the message" and the message is one of connection, collaboration and community.
The Schinkel Fine Art Gallery at the Moross House is located in the oldest brick dwelling in Detroit built by Christopher Moross circa 1840. Now an interactive art experience of original works throughout this historic property guests are enriched by the property's presence and testament to Detroit history. Formerly the Moross Museum, it was operated by the Detroit Historical Society and the Detroit Garden Center and housed community events. This property is returning to its past and once again will serve the community as an attraction unlike any other. The backyard garden exhibits a collection of outdoor works throughout an alleyway, inside a historic potting shed and a center half grassy half brick paver courtyard. Additional artists are included in rotating exhibitions.
The gallery is also available for rentals providing the perfect setting for 20 -250 guests depending on indoor and outdoor use. This urban art gallery in a legendary Detroit location with a backyard garden oasis is the perfect setting for board meetings, company gatherings, private parties, weddings and fundraisers. Key features include an art gallery experience in a historic property, a newly renovated designer kitchen, and a newly landscaped garden with an over fifty year old charming potting shed - none of which can be found elsewhere.
