Overview
This year’s Tea and Treasures brings Detroit Opera’s acclaimed Resident Artists back to The War Memorial for a program celebrating A Toast to America at 250—a musical journey through the scenes, songs, and stories that have shaped the nation’s artistic identity as the country prepares to mark its 250th anniversary.
Audiences will enjoy selections spanning the openhearted lyricism of Carlisle Floyd and Aaron Copland to the bold theatrical brilliance of Kurt Weill, Leonard Bernstein, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, and André Previn.
Guests will be treated to a lavish buffet of sweet and savory offerings and a curated selection of fine teas, paired with a program that illuminates the voices, dreams, and histories that continue to define American storytelling.
Performers include Brianna J. Robinson, Mia Mandineau, Travis Leon Williams, and Cole Bellamy, accompanied by Nathalie Doucet, Detroit Opera’s Head of Music and Director of the Resident Artist Program.
Together, they create an afternoon of exceptional music and thoughtful reflection—an experience designed for longtime opera lovers and those discovering the repertoire for the first time.
