Celebrate the Holidays in Wayne County

Wayne County Lightfest – Wednesdays-Sundays from Nov. 17 through Dec. 24

Drive through Hines Park for over four miles of beautiful lights with dozens of animated displays.

Lightfest includes more than 100,000 lights and the entrance is at 7651 N. Merriman Rd.The drive is incredible to see the lights, and the cost is $5 or cars, $20 for commercial vans, $25 for mini-buses and $50 for busses. Payment is in cash.

Wyandotte Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade – Nov. 18 and Nov. 19

Downtown Wyandotte has a great location right along the Detroit River south of the city, and if you’re looking for a small but fun tree lighting, head to Wyandotte.

They’ll light up their holiday tree at dusk on Friday, Nov. 18 at the intersection of Sycamore and Biddle.Then, the next morning, the city will have its Christmas Parade along Biddle Ave. in Downtown Detroit.

Taylor Winterfest and Winterfest Stroll – Dec. 3, 16-18, 22-23

The City of Taylor will celebrate the holidays throughout the month of December with Winterfest and the Winterfest Stroll.

Winterfest will take place at Heritage Park on Saturday, Dec. 3 and includes a 5K, 1 mile kids fun run, a tree lighting, parade and fireworks.

Then, the Winterfest Stroll will return for two weekends which will include carolers, characters, a petting farm and photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Tickets are $10 for resident adults and $5 for resident children, and $12 for non-resident adults and $6 for non-resident children. More information is available on the City of Taylor website.

City of Livonia holiday events – All December long

The City of Livonia is hosting a variety of events throughout the entire month leading up to Christmas.

Night of Lights is happening at Greenmead Historical Park on Dec. 2-3, 9-11 and 16-18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lights are also displayed every day after Dec. 1. The historical park gets lit up with lights and other holiday events as you walk through the village.

The Merry & Bright Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting is happening Dec. 4, with Deck The Rec happening Dec. 2-28, and Light Up Livonia from Dec. 5-31.

Holiday Fun at the Farm – Maybury Farm in Northville – Dec. 3-4 and 10-11

Head over to Mabury Farm at Maybury State Park in Northville for holiday weekends! The tickets include a visit with Santa, a bonfire with hot chocolate or coffee, a general store and more.

There will also be holiday music, decorations, farm animals and a place for kids to send a letter to Santa.

Tickets cost $9 per person, including adults, and kids 2 and under are free. Reservations are required and more information is available on the Maybury Farm website.

Plymouth Holiday Events – November and December

The Plymouth Walk of Trees takes place every day in Kellogg Park right in Downtown Plymouth, showing off dozens of Christmas trees decorated by people throughout the community.

If you’re looking to get into the holiday spirit, grab a cup of hot cocoa and take a walk through the display to see the incredible trees and see which one is your favorite.

The Walk of Trees is free and runs every day from Nov. 25 through Jan. 1.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, Plymouth will host Christmas in Plymouth and the Mistletoe Market from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event will include live music, food and drink, shopping, dancing, performances, horse & carriage rides and more.

Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village – Dec. 2-4, 9-11, 15-23, 26-28

One of the premiere Christmas and holiday events in metro Detroit happens at Greenfield Village in Dearborn. Tickets are hard to come by, so get them quickly.

The stroll through the 80 acres of the historical village includes bonfires, carolers, fiddlers and much more. Grab a hot cocoa, or a spiked hot cocoa or coffee, and take a walk into historic homes, ride a Model T, and enjoy fireworks at the end of the night.

Tickets are $29.75 for members and $35 for adults for public, and kids are $22.50 for members and $26.26 for non-members.

Festival of Trees – Nov. 20-27 in Dearborn

The Festival of Trees is happening at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center and money raised benefits Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation.

It shows displays of dozens of 7-foot and 5-foot holiday trees, tabletop trees, wreaths and other holiday items that are also for sale, with money going to the foundation.

If you want to get classy, there’s a Preview Gala on Saturday, November 19 with an open bar and appetizers for VIP tickets and $100 patron tickets that include a cash bar.
