What Makes a Detroit Summer So Special
Story by Biba Adams
In 1984, Sammy Davis, Jr. released a song dedicated to the city of Detroit. The song, "Hello, Detroit," was co-written by Berry Gordy and went on to become a beloved unofficial anthem of the city. In the song, Davis croons, "Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall/ You've got it all/ Hello Hello Hello
Hello, Detroit." The sentiment rings true in a city that sees all four seasons--distinctly and dare we say, magnificently.
While some delight in the white of a Detroit winter or the renewal of spring, or even the crisp energy of fall--most of us will tell you, there is nothing like a Detroit Summer.
