Detroit Disability Power: Multimedia Club-Minding our Media
Minding Our Media is a discussion club hosted by Detroit Disability Power, focusing on various forms of media through a disability justice lens. Meetings are hosted on the first Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:00 on Zoom; ASL and CART are available by request.
Au-SomeCity 313 and Renaissance City Chargers Inclusive Flag Football and Cheer
Au-Some City 313 is a nonprofit providing sensory-friendly social and development experiences to individuals with Autism and other disabilities. They have partnered with Renaissance City Chargers to host an inclusive flag football and cheerleading league for youth ages 4-26. Practices will occur on Saturdays, March 16th-April 27th, from 1-3 pm at Heilmann Recreation Center, 19601 Brock Ave, Detroit, MI 48205. Registration is $35 per player. NoteABLE Youth Music Program
NoteABLE Youth offers inclusive and adaptive music classes for youth at the Troy Community Center. For the winter session, they have an ensemble for grades 6-8 and a beginner's clinic for grades 5-8 until April 24th. Classes are on Wednesdays from 6:00-6:50 pm and cost $75—email info@noteableyouth.org for more information.
Fred Astaire Dance Mobility
Fred Astaire Dance Studio hosts free adaptive ballroom classes from 11:00-12:30, one Saturday a month for wheelchair users and amputees. Paralympic-certified Para dance instructors lead classes. Rehabilitation Insititute of Michigan’s SportsAbility Program
The Rehabilitation Institute for Michigan provides adaptive sports programs for children and adults with disabilities, led by certified therapeutic recreational therapists. Full Spectrum Agency Autistic Adults Meet-Up
Full Spectrum Agency hosts in-person and online meet-ups to provide peer support for Autistic adults by Autistic adults. Activities include body doubling groups, book clubs, and museum trips. For more information, contact katie@FullSpectrumASD.org
Peacock Art Club
The Village Fine Arts Association hosts a weekly art class every Tuesday from 4-6 pm for individuals ages 14+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
