Finding fun-for-all-ages activities in a new city can be tough, especially when some in your crew are teenagers. But there are plenty of teen-friendly spots in metro Detroit, whether you’re staying downtown or out in the ‘burbs.. Here are nine of our favorite ways to entertain your teenagers the next time you visit Detroit.
Museum of Illusions Detroit
Your teen will love discovering the collection of perspective-changing rooms, enthralling installations, and spellbinding images at the Museum of Illusions Detroit. Located in the heart of downtown Detroit on Woodward Avenue, nothing is ever quite as it seems at the Museum of Illusions.
Group visits are available, so you can immerse everybody in the fascinating world of the Museum of Illusions.
Tree Runner Adventure Park
Featuring zip lines, trails and countless climbing obstacles spread across wooded acreage, the adventure parks have something for teens of all ages. Tree Runner currently operates multiple locations, including its original West Bloomfield site and a newer location in Rochester.
At each park, trails are marked with varying levels of difficulty, including a junior park for younger siblings. During the fall, the parks host monster mashes and Halloween glow nights, giving kids an opportunity to climb high above eerie lights and spooky sights.
Detroit Dye House
Learn the craft of creating vibrant tie-dye clothing, or shop the eclectic collection of homewares and clothing from the nationally recognized brand brightlytwisted. Located on Michigan Avenue in historic Corktown, the Detroit Dye House offers 60-minute classes, during which students create three items: two to keep and one to give back to the community.
When the tie-dye work is done, you can browse the unique creations from brightlytwisted, each as innovative and luxurious as it is functional and down-to-earth.
Chandler Park Skate Park
Ever since famed skateboarder Tony Hawke helped celebrate the park’s opening in 2022, the 15,000-square-foot Chandler Park Skate Park has attracted teens from all corners of Detroit and beyond.
With winding tracks that feature twists, turns and jumps, Chandler Park Skate Park presents a challenge to skateboarders of all skill levels. The skate park is free and open to the public.
As part of the broader Chandler Park complex, the skate park neighbors other fun destinations such as a field house, basketball courts, fitness zone and splash pad.
Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park
This 22-acre greenspace on the banks of the Detroit River was designed to inspire outdoor play, complete with dynamic play areas for kids of all ages, a serene water garden, an active Sport House for year-round recreation, and beautifully landscaped, tree-lined paths.
The park, a transformational addition to the Detroit riverfront that opened in late 2025, has fast become a favorite with area residents. Be sure to check out the Delta Dental Play Garden, the Huron-Clinton Metroparks Water Garden, two full-sized basketball courts within the William Davidson Sport House sponsored by the Detroit Pistons, and the DTE Foundation Summit.
Fowling Warehouse Detroit
Fowling is similar to bowling, but players use a football to knock down pins. Teens will enjoy the competitiveness of the game while parents can watch the action as they enjoy one of the venue’s more than 120 types of beer. Food isn’t served at the warehouse, but you can bring your own grub. Take-out is available at nearby places such as the Polish Village Cafe and Amicci’s Pizza as well as deliciously diverse Yemeni and Bangladeshi food offerings throughout the Hamtramck neighborhood. Players must be at least 10 years old to play.
C.J. Barrymore’s
With activities indoors and out, C.J. Berrymore’s in Clinton Twp. offers all-day, all-evening fun for the whole family.
Indoor activities are open year-round, and include bowling, laser tag, bumper cars, a golf dome, arcade games, and C.J.’s famed XD Dark Ride. Visitors can buy an all-day wristband or a shorter-stay Fun Card.
When the weather warms, the outdoor park opens and includes rides such as a drop tower, spinning coaster, Ferris wheel and 3-story 30' high Indy Go-Cart Track. The C.J. Barrymore’s bar and grille and three food trucks give visitors plenty of dining options.
Full Throttle Adrenaline Park
