Kayaking
Get out and enjoy all of the activities that the summer months have to offer. We’ve got kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding.
You can rent all of the above at most of the 13 Huron-Clinton Metroparks. While you’re at your park of choice, check the open water to see if you spot any kite boarders. This newfangled sport is all the rage. You can contact Great Lakes Kite Boarding for information about lessons and renting equipment.
Fishing
If the catch of the day is more to your liking, try casting a line on Lake St. Clair. Fresh water in Michigan is a dime a dozen, so fishing and boating are always an available option. Other places to get off the land for a bit are Lake Erie Metropark, William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor, the Clinton River and Belle Isle Park.
Golf
Grab your clubs and golf nine or 18 holes. Lake St. Clair Metropark has an eighteen-hole par 3 course for a quick game. Red Oaks and Hampton Golf Club are small nine-hole courses.
If you prefer more of a challenge, check out Fox Hills Golf and Banquet Center with 63 holes of scenic views. You can also try FootGolf here, a combination of soccer and golf. Fieldstone Golf Club is another challenging course.
Or, take the family to one of metro Detroit’s miniature golf courses. CJ Barrymore’s in Clinton Township has two 18-hole courses where you can putt your ball through castles and waterfalls. Other putt-putt courses in metro Detroit: Royal Oak Golf Center, Oasis Golf Center and Garden City Mini Golf.
