SATURDAY

Afternoon

Take in a matinee musical at the fantastic Fisher Theatre. This season’s must-see shows include Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies: The Phantom Returns, An American in Paris, The Bodyguard and On Your Feet! The Emilio and Gloria Estefan Musical. Bundle up after the show for some hand-holding laps around the outdoor skating rink at Campus Martius Park, open mid-November through early March. The cool temps provide a good excuse to snuggle with your sweetheart.

SATURDAY

Evening

Indulge in an overnight romance package at one of Detroit’s lavish casino hotels: MotorCity Casino Hotel, MGM Grand Detroit or Greektown Casino-Hotel. A couple’s massage or private spa suite is the perfect way to unwind before hitting the town. Linger over an exceptional meal and intimate conversation at the upscale London Chop House, or mosey on over to Joe Muer Seafood for a spectacular view of the riverfront. Corktown’s Ottava Via is also a solid dinner choice, with brick oven pizzas, charcuterie boards and handcrafted cocktails. Afterward, spice things up with salsa dancing at Vicente’s Cuban Cuisine, or soak up the blues at Bert’s Market Place.

SUNDAY

Late morning-afternoon

Sleeping in is essential; no alarm clocks allowed. Embrace your lazy Sunday with a late brunch at The Hudson Cafe for Voodoo eggs Benedict or berry-stuffed french toast, Seva for eggs Veracruz or the California scramble (vegan options available) or Cliff Bell’s for a classic brunch served with a side of live entertainment. To wrap up the weekend, shop with your main squeeze at the eclectic galleries and boutiques in Corktown, Midtown or Eastern Market. Then savor a drink at the Detroit Institute of Arts while listening to the Sunday Music Bar, a series of acoustic music concerts, free with museum admission.
