Detroit is the place to be for an incredibly fun night, but we all know how tiring it can be after going out all night. All you want when you’re done is to sit down with something delicious to eat, and the Motor City also will satisfy that craving.

Whether you’re looking for a burger, a hot dog or even fried chicken, there are some great places right around downtown Detroit that will hit the spot.

American Coney Island and Lafayette Coney Island – Downtown Detroit

Located right next door to each other, both American and Lafayette offer the Detroit staple coney dog. When visiting one of them, make sure you get one with everything – chili, mustard and onion, and some chili-cheese fries. There is history with both of these restaurants, and you’ll want to hear the story while inside. This meal is sure to leave you filled up while also wanting to make another visit soon.

Checker Bar – Downtown Detroit

If you’re looking for a classic bar meal, look no further than Checker Bar, a Detroit original burger bar. You can get a variety of burgers, and make sure to add the shoestring fries. If those aren’t your thing, the onion rings are a perfect side. One burger specifically is perfect for those looking for something different – the breakfast burger with bacon, cheese and a fried egg.

Telway Hamburgers – Southwest Detroit

Another Detroit burger staple is Telway Hamburgers on Michigan Ave. The slider stand has been around for decades and is perfect for carry-out if you don’t want to sit down. Open 24 hours a day, you can also get a coffee with those greasy, oniony sliders. Add some crinkle-cut fries if you feel it.

El Nacimiento – Southwest Detroit

Tacos are one of the best late-night meals because they’re quick, easy and delicious. El Nacimiento in Southwest Detroit his all three. The restaurant is open late on Fridays and Saturdays. You can get single tacos on either flour or corn tortillas; pick your meat and they’re served with onion and cilantro on top. Nothing special, just incredibly delicious. Add some chips and salsa or guac, or if you’re feeling adventurous, the super burrito is a 15-inch tortilla with your choice of meat, tomato, onions and cilantro.

You can get bucks with 5 pieces up to 20 pieces, as well as honey butter biscuits, brussels sprouts, fries or potato salad. If you’re not feeling a bucket, they also have sandwiches.
