All Things Detroit Day celebrates 10 years of boosting small business

The independently-produced, shop-local experience returns April 7 to Detroit’s historic Eastern Market

WHAT All Things Detroit Day was founded by Jennyfer Crawford-Williams began with a spark of inspiration 10 years ago. Williams chose to shine a spotlight on locally made goods and small business owners in her hometown.

Each Spring, she curates a celebratory day-long event that features more than 200 local artists and makers who sell handcrafted art, foods, home and garden goods.

This year, to mark a decade of All Things Detroit Day, Crawford-Williams will spotlight vendors with audition-style film clips projected at the event and on social media. DJ’s will add to the festivities with live sets throughout the day. A new batch of Food Trucks – and some old favorites - will serve up delicious eats. Scent Science will set up a Make-Your-Own Candle Bar. Detroit’s Coloring Museum will host a coloring wall and curate an All Things Detroit Memories Wall where all ages can share what this event has meant to them. Detroit is Different will sponsor a stage outdoors featuring live entertainment. Look out for original work by a local artist commemorating the anniversary - and so many more surprises to come.

“All Things Detroit Day started with an idea in my Detroit apartment,” said Crawford-Williams. “And today I am proud to say that helping small business owners is my professional purpose. These entrepreneurs are the foundation of our community. This All Things Detroit Day, I want to welcome everyone to come out to Eastern Market to discover something new and celebrate our 10th anniversary in a big way.”
