Detroit is one of the best sports cities in the country. We have all four major professional sports teams, a professional soccer team in its first year – and two of the best college teams in the country.

That means the Motor City is filled with places to post up with your friends and enjoy a cold beer while the game is on. Whether it’s an 8 a.m. weekend drink for soccer or a late-night basketball game, these are some of the best sports bars in Detroit.

Sports Bars in Downtown Detroit

Thomas Magee’s Sporting House

This English-themed bar in Eastern Market is the place to go for soccer fans in metro Detroit. It’s the home bar for Liverpool FC supporters in Detroit and you’ll constantly find soccer matches from around the world on. There’s even Formula 1 races playing early during the season. While there isn’t food, you’ll often find The Proper serving up English breakfasts during morning events.

Nemo’s

Nemo’s is located in the heart of Corktown and the walls are filled with Detroit memorabilia and newspapers from historic Detroit sports moments. It’s a great spot to hang out for a game with an outdoor tent popping up often in the summer. They’re known for the juicy hamburgers they serve up.

Anchor Bar

Anchor Bar has been a Detroit staple for decades and recently underwent a renovation after being sold to a new owner. You’ll be able to catch the game on several TVs throughout the bar with great beers and food available. You have to try the famous totchos – tater tots topped with cheese and more.

Tommy’s Detroit Bar and Grill

You’ll find iconic Detroit sports moments all over the walls of Tommy’s Detroit. They have homemade burgers, hand-dipped chicken wings and what they call the best homemade corned beef. There’s also a touch of history, as it was once part of the Underground Railroad and a major Detroit speakeasy during Prohibition.

24 Seconds Bar & Grill

This spot in Berkley is always showing the games. And if you’re looking to catch a UFC fight, 24 Seconds is always showing them. There are TVs all around and a great rooftop deck right in downtown Berkley. You’ll also find food and drink discounts for all Detroit games.

Ciccarelli’s

Former Detroit Red Wings player Dino Ciccarelli opened this restaurant in Macomb County and you’ll find some of the biggest TVs inside. You can turn in any direction without missing a moment of the game. There’s also a poker room open during the week with classic bar food like pizza and burgers. Try the Dino Cheesy Bread – house-made garlic parmesan breadsticks, or if you’re wanting something a little more Canadian, get some poutine.
