Winter is upon us and we couldn’t be more excited! Bring on the holiday parades, hot chocolate, ice skating, tree lighting and the highly anticipated Bedrock activations. Detroit has always been the ultimate winter wonderland destination and every year we do what we can to take it up a notch. Bedrock Detroit is holding nothing back this year and ready to debut some of the new holiday touches and experiences that they are bringing to their annual downtown transformation.

For the past four years, Bedrock and the Rocket Community Fund have been joining forces to bring some of the most visionary installations to Downtown Detroit. To welcome in the winter season, Cadillac Square is bringing in the spirit with the Cadillac Lodge by Bea’s Detroit, the Holiday Markets, and the Monroe St. Drive-In. Since its inception in 2016, this activation has supported 119 small businesses, who generated nearly $5 million in overall sales.

Nothing brings in the Detroit winter wonderland vibes like shopping at the custom-built outdoor marketplace featuring a variety of Detroit retailers, hot chocolate at the Lodge and playing games with friends or family until you’re ready to explore more. The Downtown Detroit Markets have seen 13 small businesses return for multiple seasons, and many have grown through the opportunity and used it as a launching pad toward a brick-and-mortar storefront.

With so much to see and take advantage of, it’s the perfect time to do more than make a weekend of it. Make it a ‘staycation’ (or vacation) instead by staying at a hotel in walking distance to the action. These hotels closest to the city’s epicenter will make it easy to enjoy every moment of our amazing winter destination:

Monroe St. Drive-In

Back by popular demand, the winter iteration of the Monroe St. Drive-In Powered by Emagine, opens on November 12 (tickets go on sale Nov. 9) and running until the beginning of the new year. The outdoor movie screen will come alive with holiday classics and family favorites all season long.

We’re even more excited about the new upgrades made to this highly sought after downtown experience, including: heated, outdoor seating pods – perfect for date nights and family movie nights, food vendors, and a Detroit-centric mural by legendary artist Sheefy McFly!
