Founded by award-winning restaurateur Billy Dec, Sunda New Asian brings modern Southeast Asian cuisine to The District Detroit. Sunda Detroit opens Tuesday, March 10th, introducing its signature blend of elevated flavors and high-energy hospitality to the heart of downtown.
Located at 33 W. Columbia Street, just steps from Comerica Park and the Fox Theatre, the 200+ seat restaurant features a vibrant patio and bold, design-forward interiors. Since 2009, Sunda has elevated traditional flavors from Japan, China, and across Southeast Asia with refined ingredients and contemporary techniques.
Guests can enjoy signature favorites like Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Oxtail Potstickers, Baked Crab Handrolls, Japanese Wagyu, and Miso Glazed Sea Bass, alongside craft cocktails, curated sake selections, and an eclectic wine list. Led by Culinary Director Mike Morales and Head Sushi Chef Ise Matsunobu, Sunda Detroit delivers a shareable, immersive dining experience that celebrates Southeast Asian culture while embracing Detroit’s creative energy.
