Back in the day, Woodward Avenue was lined with specialty shops and stores, anchored by the mega-department store, Hudson’s. Woodward Avenue has been completely transformed in recent years, paying homage to the former shopping district. Big-brands like Nike Community Store, Under Armour Brand House, Moosejaw and Lululemon Athletica have opened their doors along the famous corridor drawing in shoppers.

Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi is a shopper’s dream. With nearly 200 stores, services and restaurants, it boasts Nordstrom, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, JCPenney, Sears and the Lifestyle Cafe Food Court among it’s many upscale offerings.
Alright deal-hunters, this one’s for you. Great Lakes Crossing Outlets is the prime location for outlet shopping in metro Detroit and is the largest outlet center in Michigan. Snag deals at Kate Spade New York Outlet, Banana Republic Factory Store and the Nike Outlet. If you have the kids with you, make a day of it and visit Legoland Discovery Center Michigan or Sea Life Michigan Aquarium.
The D is known for cars, Coneys and the Motown sound, but you probably didn’t know we’re pretty serious about our fashion. So much so, that an entire area of northwest Detroit is dedicated to fashion —The Historic Avenue of Fashion.
Before malls existed, this area was a destination for luxury shopping, affectionately referred to as “The Avenue of Fashion.” This stretch of Livernois has a rich American jazz legacy and an African-American cultural heritage that has shaped the arts and businesses on the strip.
The area is now home to a variety of retail, restaurants and small businesses. Shop and dine your way up and down Livernois, and be sure to stop at Flagship Boutique, Mitchell’s on The Avenue and 1917 American Bistro.
