As the nation commemorates its 250th anniversary, The Henry Ford offers 250 acres of special programming, new exhibitions, exciting events and more to highlight the history of American innovation. The yearlong series explores how creativity and ingenuity have sparked change across centuries of American life and how they continue to shape the future we all share.
August 24-Jan 18: Handmade: The Crafting of America
Discover the story of American craftsmanship in Handmade: The Crafting of America. From practical beginnings to bold, modern expressions, this exhibition traces the evolution of craft and celebrates human creativity. Each artifact — some shown publicly for the first time — reveals a narrative of resilience, resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit.
August 24-Sep 13: Fabric of America: Our Fashions, Textiles, and Technologies
Drawing exclusively from The Henry Ford's collections, Fabric of America: Our Fashions, Textiles, and Technologies explores the deep connections between textiles and our shared history. Through five enduring American values — liberty, practicality, inventiveness, abundance and individualism — this exhibition reveals how fabric shapes who we are as a people and a nation, presented as part of The Henry Ford's America: 250 Years in the Making commemoration.
August 28-30: Ambassador Cup
For the first time, spectators along the Detroit Riverwalk will experience world class sailboat racing directly on the Detroit River, with 70 foot racing yachts maneuvering within full view of the crowd against the backdrop of the city skyline creating a spectator experience unlike anything ever seen in Detroit.
August 28: In Her Honor - Detroit: Public Exhibition Day
The In Her Honor exhibition opens to the public, featuring portraits, personal stories, and educational installations honoring Black mothers whose lives were lost to pregnancy-related complications. The exhibition highlights the experiences of impacted families while examining the racial disparities that continue to shape maternal health outcomes in the United States.

August 29: Diner en Blanc
After a spectacular debut that welcomed close to 1,000 guests dressed in elegant white, the internationally celebrated Diner en Blanc will return to Detroit for its second official edition on Saturday, August 29, 2026. True to tradition, the venue will remain a closely guarded secret until the very last moment, adding an air of mystery and excitement to this festive, community-focused picnic. Detroit’s inaugural 2025 event quickly became one of the city’s most talked-about social gatherings, bringing together close to 1,000 guests, along with local celebrities and media, for a night of elegance beneath the summer sky.
August 29: Big Time Boxing
Former amateur standouts and rising prospects Julius “JuJu” Ballo and Jonny Mansour will make their Detroit debut on Saturday, August 29 at the Fox Theatre as the cousins celebrate the city’s large Chaldean and Middle Eastern communities.
August 29-30: Urban Pulse 3 Year Anniversary
Opening and closing the night is REDAX, founder and resident of Urban Pulse. Forged in Detroit's underground and influenced by both his Lebanese heritage and the city that gave techno its voice, REDAX builds immersive journeys that blur the line between DJ set and ritual.
Seven hours inside one of Detroit's most distinctive creative spaces, where sound, architecture, and movement become inseparable.
August 30: NEEDTOBREATHE
GRAMMY-nominated band NEEDTOBREATHE announces the first leg of their headline The Long Surrender Tour. The 25-date, late summer run spanning amphitheaters nationwide finds the band "at their best in the live setting, where they take what's been cultivated in the studio and allow it to erupt on stage" (Rolling Stone). Joining NEEDTOBREATHE on the road are longtime friends and collaborators, husband-and-wife indie-folk duo, Drew & Ellie Holcomb.
