As the nation commemorates its 250th anniversary, The Henry Ford offers 250 acres of special programming, new exhibitions, exciting events and more to highlight the history of American innovation. The yearlong series explores how creativity and ingenuity have sparked change across centuries of American life and how they continue to shape the future we all share.

Drawing exclusively from The Henry Ford's collections, Fabric of America: Our Fashions, Textiles, and Technologies explores the deep connections between textiles and our shared history. Through five enduring American values — liberty, practicality, inventiveness, abundance and individualism — this exhibition reveals how fabric shapes who we are as a people and a nation, presented as part of The Henry Ford's America: 250 Years in the Making commemoration.

In July and August 2026, the Festival will take the stage at the Hilberry Gateway, Wayne State University's state-of-the-art performing arts center. The season will feature Shakespeare's Richard III, starring Detroit native Rico Bruce Wade, and the ever-popular romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing. Both productions will be directed by MSF Artistic Director Janice L. Blixt. Also joining the lineup is the world premiere adaptation of George Farquhar's The Beaux' Stratagem: A Comedy of Bad Manners, adapted and directed by Festival Artistic Associate Robert Kauzlaric. With a title like that, audiences can expect schemes, charm, questionable choices, and the kind of comic chaos that makes summer theatre sparkle.

The PGA Tour returns to Detroit Golf Club for the eighth and, notably, final Rocket Classic, as Rocket Companies announced it would not exercise its sponsorship option after this year. The tournament tees off Thursday, July 30, and concludes Sunday, August 2, following a $16.1 million restoration that will have the historic Donald Ross course playing as a par 70 for the first time. This year's field is expected to be the strongest in the tournament's history, with 10 major champions and 21 players ranked in the top 50 of the world, headlined by World No. 3 Cameron Young. Whether you catch it from the fairway or the fan zone, it's a can't-miss send-off for one of Detroit's marquee sporting events.
