With the calendar flipped to 2023, cities throughout Wayne County have their events ready to go for 2023.

From carnivals to food events, holiday celebrations and more, below are 23 things to do in 2023 in Wayne County.

February

Plymouth Ice Festival – Feb. 3-5, 2023 – Plymouth

One of the first winter events is the Plymouth Ice Festival in Downtown Plymouth, where you can walk through the area to see beautiful ice carvings and more.

You can catch live ice carvings throughout the event, and the carvings are made out of 350-pound blocks of ice.

There is also ice festival bingo, a heated tent where you can get some food and warm drinks, plus shopping throughout downtown Plymouth.

Downtown Trenton Winterfest – Feb. 3-4 – Trenton

Check out Downtown Trenton in the heart of the winter for the annual Downtown Trenton Winterfest. The vent runs 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. They will have a beer tent, live entertainment, ice sculptures, outdoor winter activities, food vendors and more.

Paczki Day celebrations – Hamtramck

Celebrate Fat Tuesday by getting a delicious, fried and jelly-filled paczki from Hamtramck. Paczki are Polish doughnuts, and they are known in metro Detroit with people lining up early in the morning. Fat Tuesday is Feb. 21, 2023

You can also participate in the Paczki Run before Fat Tuesday on Feb. 18 through Hamtramck. After the race, you get a beer and a paczek.

March

Dearborn Restaurant Week – March 3-12, 2023 – Dearborn

Dearborn is known for having some of the best food in metro Detroit, and restaurant week celebrates the city’s food culture.

Restaurants will be announced soon on their website, and each will have a special, fixed-price menu for people to try.

Catch a Detroit City FC game – Hamtramck

Detroit City FC, the professional soccer team in Detroit, kicks off its 2023 season at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck in March, and the season lasts through October with games every month.

Check out our guide to attending a DCFC match, and you’ll have a ton of fun. The games feature action on the field, plus several food trucks, cheap drinks, games for the family and an incredible atmosphere.

Eggstravaganza at Maybury Farm – April 15 – Northville

The annual egg hunt at Maybury Farm is for people of all ages. On top of egg hunting, there is face painting, seed planting, crafts, coloring and costumes.

Plus, you can grab a bite to eat from a local food truck and check out the new farm animals.

June

Swiggin’ Pig BBQ – June 8-11, 2023 – Wyandotte

Soak up the sun with delicious drinks and barbeque at Swiggin’ Pig in Downtown Wyandotte.

The four-day event has live music, delicious food, whiskey tasting, a carnival and much more.

Motor City Irish Fest – June 9-11, 2023 – Livonia

Celebrate your real or wanted Irish heritage at Greenmead Historical Park. The Irish music festival has bands and Irish dancers, plus a whiskey tasting, cultural tent, open air mass and children’s play area.

For those looking to stay fit, try out the .001K sprint across the finish line. That’s only about a yard.

Taylor Summer Festival – June 22-25 – Taylor

The summer festival runs four days at Heritage Park and has fun for everyone. It includes a carnival for the families every night, live music from nationally-recognized artists, a fireworks display and more.

July

Plymouth Art in the Park – July 7-9, 2023 – Plymouth

2023 will be the 43rd year for Plymouth Art in the Park, which welcomes more than 400 artists from around the country.

On top of the art showcase, they have different entertainment that has previously included a comedy juggling show, musicians, a children’s mural a theater and more. It takes place at Kellogg Park in Downtown Plymouth.

Wyandotte Street Art Fair – July 12-15, 2023 – Wyandotte

The Wyandotte Street Art Fair takes over the streets of Downtown Wyandotte for four days in July, with hundreds of thousands of visitors coming to the area.

Hundreds of artists from around the country showcase their work, and there are dozens of restaurants people can visit.

There are also crafters, a children’s area, a place for kids to have fun with art and more.

Uncle Sam Jam – Woodhaven

The Uncle Sam Jam usually runs the second weekend in July at Civic Center Park in Woodhaven. The four-day event features live music, a carnival, fireworks, cornhole tournaments, a petting zoo and more.

Allen Park Street Fair – Aug. 4-5, 2023 – Allen Park

The 41st Allen Park Street Fair returns to the city with over 200 arts and crafts vendors from around the U.S., plus live music, food vendors and more.

St. Andrew’s Society Highland Games – Aug. 4-5, 2023 – Livonia

The St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit is celebrating its 174th Highland Games, bringing the Scottish tradition to metro Detroit.

It will include Ceilidh, pipes and drums, highland dance and heavy athletics, which include a stone put, lifting a 56-pound weight, a caber toss, hammer throw and more.

It takes place at Greenmead Historical Park in Livonia.

Our Lady of the Scapular Polish Festival – Wyandotte

A major Polish festival in metro Detroit, the Our Lady of the Scapular Polish Festival takes place near the end of August in Wyandotte. You can check out the beer tent, live music, delicious Polish food, bingo and more.

Hamtramck Labor Day Festival – Labor Day weekend

Every Labor Day weekend, Hamtramck welcomes thousands of people for the free Labor Day festival. It includes yacht races own Jos. Campau, carnival rides, food, drinks and music.

Plymouth Fall Festival Sept. 8-10, 2023 – Plymouth

The festival in the heart of Downtown Plymouth includes a BBQ, craft show, pet show, carnival, live music, bingo and a car show. It’s a great way to end the fall season before temps get colder in metro Detroit

Flat Rock Riverfest – Sept. 15-16 – Flat Rock

Taking place at Huroc Park in Flat Rock, the Riverfest brings together great music, family-friendly activities and delicious food.

There is a beer tent, fireworks display, inflatables, kids activities, shopping form local vendors and more.

Fire and Flannel Fest – Sept. 21-24, 2023 – Wyandotte

Celebrate fall in your favorite flannel in Downtown Wyandotte, as the Fire and Flannel fest returns. The event features a carnival, fire magic acts, live chainsaw carvings, axe throwing, a beer tent, live music and more.

Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village – Dearborn

Greenfield Village transforms for the fall with spooky displays, pumpkins lining the entire route, trick-or-treating and more.

There is no better way to enjoy fall in Michigan than at a cider mill, and there are no shortage of them in Wayne County.

Some of our favorites include Parmenter’s in Northville, Apple Charlie’s, Obstbaum, Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill and Three Cedars Farm. Grab a donut and some apple cider and take in the fall smells.

Wayne County Lightfest – Westland

Kicking off in November and going through December, Wayne County Lightfest features more than 100,000 lights and more than 50 animated displays across four miles of Hine Park.

One of the busiest holiday events of the year, Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village sells out quickly, so set a date to get tickets. You can explore the historic village that is filled with holiday decorations, carolers, warm drinks, delicious food and more.
