Looking to get your thrill on in Detroit? Want to try something new and face your fears? Whether you’re looking for a fun activity to do with friends, as a family, alone, or for date night, check out these activities around the metro area for a fun, new experience, and to get your adrenaline pumping!
Rock Climbing
Try your hand at rock climbing at Planet Rock or DYNO. After an introductory lesson, you will be able to free climb by bouldering or try a higher wall on an auto belay. There are also some options to work together on the top rope walls where you support each other on the climb instead of using auto belays (certification to do this varies by location). This activity is perfect if you’re looking for a fun, new, and exciting way to get active!
Ziplining
Zoom through the air at one of metro Detroit’s Ziplining courses. Ziplining courses can be found in Rochester and West Bloomfield at the Treerunner Adventure Parks and CJ Barrymore’s to name a couple in the metro area This activity is perfect for an exhilarating date night or a family afternoon activity.
Try an Escape Room
The perfect group activity as you go up against to clock to escape! This is perfect if you are looking for a birthday activity, a double date night, family-friendly fun, or an after-graduation activity with friends. Some escape rooms in metro Detroit include Breakout Escape Rooms in Royal Oak, The Fifth Wall Escape Rooms in Ferndale, and Escape Plans
in Downtown Detroit.
Trampoline Park
Have some afternoon fun at a metro Detroit trampoline park. Jump to new heights, play a game of trampoline dodgeball, or any number of activities offered! Some local trampoline parks include Sky Zone, Urban Air, DEFY, and Pump It Up. This is a great family-friendly activity for summer break!
Indoor Skydiving
Always wanted to try sky diving but are unsure of jumping out of a plane? Try indoor skydiving! If you’re looking for a rush, this is the perfect activity for you. iFLY Detroit offers indoor skydiving for all ages and is in Novi. Who knows, perhaps you’ll feel the rush to want and try the real thing after!
Go Karting
Zoom around a go karting course and top speeds! Compete against your friends or go just for fun! Detroit has several go karting courses in the metro area including at the Legacy Center in Oxford, Full Throttle Adrenaline Park in Sterling Heights and Novi, and CJ Barrymore’s in Clinton Township!
Axe Throwing
Axe throwing is the perfect activity for big groups or for date night! Throw the axes right at the bullseye and hone your skills under one of Detroit many skilled axe throwing masters. Detroit Axe, BATL Axe Throwing, and Total Axe Throwing are only a few of the great places to check out for this fun, exhilarating activity.
High Rope Courses
Test your balance and face your fear at a Detroit high ropes course! At a high rope course, you will be several feet up in the air balancing on wobbling ropes, climbing rope ladders, and swinging around! This is a great activity for families or for a fun outing with friends. Some of Detroit’s high ropes courses include The Tailgate Garage and Treerunner Adventure Park.
Scuba Diving
Scuba diving isn’t just for the coasts. Try your hand at it and take a class at Motor City Scuba! You and your friends can learn how to safely scuba and then have the skills to explore the beautiful lakes in Michigan. Motor City scuba offers serval different certifications so you can keep improving if you find it’s something you enjoy.
Paragliding
A wonderful summer activity to try in the D this year is paragliding. For great instruction, check out Michigan Powered Paragliding
which will walk you through everything before your first solo mission! Paragliding is a great and exhilarating way to get outside and enjoy the views.
