Michigan is renowned for its wedding venues, and when the big day comes, Detroit should be at the top of the list for throwing your celebration.

From historic churches, beautiful outdoor venues and reception halls, to some of the most original and exciting vendors available, if you’re thinking of getting hitched in the Motor City, here’s a list of some of Detroit’s best wedding and reception halls.

Detroit, Michigan Wedding Venues

The Townsend Hotel

Birmingham’s Townsend Hotel is ideal for a ceremony, a distinctive rehearsal dinner or a memorable post-wedding-day brunch. The hotel’s premier 5,000-square-foot reception ballroom and intimate salons feature crystal chandeliers, cherry wood paneling, lavish marble floors and stylish halls and foyers. This venue seats up to 320 guests.

The Inn at St. John's

The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth is ranked among The Knot’s "Best of Weddings." With more than half a century of tradition, this luxury boutique hotel is detailed in wood and stonework with soaring inlaid ceilings, majestic columns and polished marble floors and ballrooms. The grounds include a chapel, gardens, 27-hole championship golf course and five-star dining.

The Henry Ford Museum

For one of the most unique weddings in Michigan — in Lovett Hall, the Museum Plaza or Greenfield Village — look no further than Dearborn. The Henry Ford Museum’s uniquely appointed ballrooms, plazas and gardens are sure to inspire Michigan couples and can accommodate any size wedding with up to 10,000 guests.

Comerica Park

For baseball fanatics and fans of the city of Detroit, Comerica Park is the perfect venue for hosting a wedding. Comerica Park can accommodate events with 50 to 40,000 guests. Imagine the novelty of a wedding that features Comerica Park’s carousel, Ferris wheel, musical water fountain and baseball diamond.

Royal Park Hotel

The four-star, four-diamond Royal Park Hotel is a luxury reception venue in Rochester. With two versatile ballrooms, the hotel’s décor features quarter-sawn cherry, marble and slate, giving this modern facility the feel of an English manor house. This venue can accommodate intimate weddings for fewer than 200 guests or larger weddings with more than 1,000 guests.

Westin Book Cadillac

The newly renovated Westin Book Cadillac Hotel is the ideal choice for a downtown Detroit wedding. The Italian-renaissance-style hotel is a member of the National Registry of Historic Buildings, and provides spectacular views of the city. Built in 1924, the Westin Book Cadillac is rich in Detroit history, and the two historic ballrooms and a third contemporary ballroom are perfect for bringing your wedding downtown.

Meadow Brook Hall

Located in Rochester Hills, Meadow Brook Hall is a national and state registered historic home, Meadow Brook Hall preserves the architecture and style of the past, including mansion rooms and outdoor gardens.

Ford House (Edsel & Eleanor Ford House)

Capture your wedding photos on the grounds of the Ford House, home to the former auto barons, with several backdrops to choose from.

The Masonic of Detroit

From an intimate wedding venue to breathtaking ballrooms, The Masonic hosts downtown Detroit weddings in one of the city’s most unique buildings.

Gem Theatre

Right near the Detroit Athletic Club, Ford Field and Comerica Park, this historic venue is right in the heart of the action in Detroit. The golden-hued theater area is the perfect place to hold your wedding reception, complete with two levels and a stage for a live band to perform.

The Colony Club

The ballrooms at the Colony Club in downtown Detroit will leave you and your guests speechless. The third floor ballroom has historic chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling two story windows and a charming mezzanine.

Planterra Conservatory

This nature-centric event venue is absolutely stunning. The glass-enclosed botanical garden space is the perfect atmosphere for romantic nuptials. The full-service expert staff at Planterra Conservatory will ensure your wedding is top-notch.
