1. Buddy’s Pizza
Your first stop among gluten free restaurants in Detroit has to be Buddy’s Pizza. Here, you can try one of their famous original Detroit style pizzas, but gluten free! There are no cardboard-tasting pizza crusts at Buddy’s. Here, you’ll get a crispy and thick gluten free crust. Buddy’s takes precautions to reduce cross contact, such as cooking the gluten free pizzas wrapped in foil on the top shelf of the oven.
2. Hudson Cafe
For brunch, Hudson Café is a Detroit institution for the gluten free or gluten-consuming folks alike. This café has a central downtown location, and you can expect a line out the door after 9 a.m. on weekends. At Hudson Café they take gluten free preparation very seriously, with celiac-safe procedures such as a separate kitchen space and cooking utensils. Order gluten free pancakes or the very berry French toast. Either way, you can’t go wrong!
3. Seva
Seva is a 100 percent vegetarian restaurant. They have an extensive gluten free menu! What’s even better is that Seva has a dedicated gluten free fryer, meaning the crispy Yam fries should definitely be on any celiac’s order. Seva takes other precautions such as using a separate preparation space for gluten free orders, and cooking gluten free items in dedicated pans rather than on the stove top.

4. Folk Detroit
Drop by Folk in trendy Corktown for a gluten free brunch of your dreams, made of locally-sourced high-quality ingredients. At Folk the gluten free items are marked on the menu, and if you ask the server they will take appropriate precautions when preparing. A personal favorite is the almond-flour based waffles made on a dedicated waffle iron, served with pistachio butter. However, the menu at Folk changes seasonally so it’s best to stop by and see for yourself!
