Have Fun at the Park
The weather is good enough for a park most of the year in Michigan, and Downriver has a ton of great parks.
In Trenton, Elizabeth Park is an island park along the Detroit River. It features more than 1,000 feet of riverwalk for fishing, and the path circling the park is a mile long for walking. There are also playgrounds, picnic shelters, fitness areas and much more.
Just north of Trenton in Wyandotte is Bishop Park, a small 12-acre park along the Detroit River. It has great spots for fishing, playground equipment and more.
Heritage Park in Taylor is a massive park that includes a community garden, botanical gardens, soccer field, historic buildings, a fishing pond, baseball diamonds and much more.
Civic Center Park in Woodhaven is right off of I-75 about 25 minutes south of Detroit. There you’ll find a walking trail, skating rinks, tennis and pickleball courts, a skate park, disc golf course, baseball diamonds and more.
Along the Huron River is Huroc Park, another island park that is a great place for walking, fishing, having a picnic or just getting together. The path that goes through the park also connects to Oakwoods Metropark, which is one of a few Metroparks that are Downriver.

Along with the Detroit River, the Downriver area hs plenty of other lakes and rivers for people to get into a kayak or a boat.

Attend a Festival
When the weather starts warming up, the festivals start to come out in the streets of Downriver.
One of the largest is the Wyandotte Street Art Fair, which closes down the main street in Downtown Wyandotte for four days and features hundreds of artists from around the country.
The Taylor Summer Festival is also perfect for people of all ages to have fun and get together at Heritage Park, and you can check out some of the best cars at the Fort Street Cruise.
Each city has their own set of festivals, so take your pick and have some fun.
