Hot Spots | Food Trucks

Food is on the move in metro Detroit.

We’ve got carts on corners, trucks tucked on tree-lined streets and even vamped up vegan vans serving up meals on wheels that are out-of-the-automobile awesome.

Concrete Cuisine

For five years, Concrete Cuisine has served the tri-county area. Don’t resist the temptation to gorge on its most popular item, Mediterranean nachos aptly named the Prince. Or dig into the Sweeties, waffle-cut sweet potato fries tossed in cinnamon sugar. Check out the website for lunch locations.

Drifter Coffee

A good cup could be rolling down a street near you. Drifter Coffee makes stops throughout southeast Michigan. So the next time you’re pining for your caffeine fix, look for the vintage Serro Scotty trailer.

Shimmy Shack

You can’t miss this sexy pink vehicle — or its mission. Based in South Lyon, Michigan’s only vegan, gluten-free food truck aims to make cruelty-free food groovylicious. Try the burgers, fries and shakes. Roll through the online calendar for the truck's stops. Shimmy on!

Saucy Joe’s

Fresh, made-from-scratch Italian fare from a mobile food truck? Si! Try the garlic knots or the top-selling meatball sandwich — hearty beef meatballs smothered with provolone cheese and a bold red olive sauce served on a ciabatta square. Grab plenty of napkins; you’ll need ‘em.

Franks Etc.

Bill (aka The Hot Dog Guy) has been serving up frankfurters — as well as Polish, Italian, chicken and veggie sausages — from his classic 1965 VW van for more than a decade. His current mobile hot spot is the Birmingham Farmers Market on Sundays.
