Trails near the Environmental Discovery Center are hilly with slopes. Trails near the park office are flatter with boardwalk sections. Pets, bicycles, and running are prohibited.

The Meadowlark Playground has paved walkways leading towards the play structure. Play areas have ramped access and tot and belt swings are available.

Beaches
Maple Beach features family changing rooms and beach mats for easier wheelchair access. Martindale Beach also has family changing rooms and outdoor showers. Beach mats are available for easier wheelchair access. Accessible tables are near the concession stand and restroom.
Boat Launch
The West Boat Launch has an accessible floating dock, launches, gangways, and a parking lot. There are accessible picnic tables, grills, walkways, and vault latrines.
Farm Center
There are paved walkways providing access to the Farm Center, except for the Living History Village and Sugar Bush. An elevator is available in the Main Barn. Sensory-friendly backpacks are available for guest use. A wheelchair lift is available to access the hayride.

GRIT All-Terrain Freedom Wheelchair Rental
The GRIT Freedom chair is a manual all-terrain wheelchair that allows users to navigate trails. There is one available for rental at the park. A companion or attendant is recommended to assist with transfers. The chair is recommended for ages seven and up. Chair rentals must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling (810)-227-8910.
Hike-Bike Trail
The trail is almost 12 miles; and has several steep hills. Kiosks near the West Boat Launch and Upper East Launch parking lots are set in concrete for increased access. The bicycle repair stations can double as wheelchair repair stations. Dogs must be kept on a six-foot leash at all times.
Nature Center
The Nature Center offers accessible displays, sensory bags, and a social story. There is an accessible viewing scope at the Kingfisher Lagoon Overlook. The amphitheater provides an accessible outdoor learning space.
Nature Trails
The nature trails are between half a mile to two miles. They are mostly level, unpaved gravel paths with brides and boardwalks. Parts of the Chickadee and Wildwing Trails are steep.

Playgrounds
The playground at Maple Beach features sensory-friendly equipment, transfer stations to the playscape, areas for quiet play, and dignity landings on slides. There is accessible parking and walkways adjacent to the playground. Family changing rooms are nearby. The playground at Martindale Beach has transfer stations. The playground near the West Boat Launch Picnic Area is for younger children. It features belt swings, tot swings, and larger harness swings.
Splash ‘n’ Bash
There is a paved walkway to access the Splash ‘n’ Bash. All spray features and canons are accessible. Accessible picnic tables are located nearby and family showers and outdoor showers are available.

Marina Fishing Pier & Observation Deck
The fishing pier and observation deck feature low railings, benches with backs, and accessible picnic tables. An accessible parking area is located near the Lake Erie shoreline at the marina.
Marshlands Museum
The Marshlands Museum offers a sensory-friendly backpack for guests.
Nature Trails
The trails are compact gravel with mostly flat terrain. Cherry Island Trail is the most accessible trail. It can be reached by a paved walkway from the overflow lot at the Boat Launch. It is partially paved with sections of boardwalk. Water levels can change depending on the season, and portions of the trail can flood. Bicycles, running, and pets are prohibited.

Metropark Express
Guests can take SMART Flex-On Demand service from Gratiot and 15 Mile to locations throughout the park.
Mobility Carts and Shuttle Service
Mobility carts are available at the Park Office on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a $20 deposit and a $5 per hour charge. Wheelchair-accessible shuttle service is available during the weekend from the parking lots to Huron Point Picnic Area, the wedding gazebo, and the shore fishing area.
Nature Center
The Nature Center offers interactive exhibit displays with audio-capable touchscreens and tactile objects. The exhibit room has wide spacing and low-pile carpeting, allowing for easy access. Accessible parking is available in the main parking area. Sensory bags are available for guests to check out during their visit.
Nature Trails
The 1.5 miles of nature trails are made up of compact gravel with easy curves and few elevation changes. The paths cross over two wooden bridges that provide access to a ¼ mile boardwalk and grassy pathway. Pets, bicycles, and running are not allowed on the trails.
Pool and Squirt Zone Spray Ground
The pool can be accessed from a paved walkway and a ramp path is provided to the pool deck. Guests can use the portable lift to access the pool, and a family changing room is available. The Squirt Zone can be accessed by paved walkways, and the sprayers and cannons are accessible. Benches and shaded areas surround the area.
South Marina
Four accessible floating docks are available at the North end of the marina. Accessible picnic tables are available near the marina.

The Hike-Bike Trail is paved and relatively flat. The steepest hill is located near the South Fishing site. Dogs must be on a six-foot leash at all times.
North Fishing Site
The North Fishing Site features an accessible observation deck and fishing area. An accessible kayak trail and parking are also located nearby. There are five accessible picnic tables, two swivel grills, and a vault latrine.

South Fishing Site
The South Fishing Site features an accessible observation deck and fishing area. A paved path connects the deck, parking lot, and restrooms. Adjacent is the Hike-Bike trailhead with a bike repair station that can be used as a wheelchair repair station.
Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center
The Aquatic Center features two waterslides, a lazy river, a dumping bucket, and a zero-depth entry pool. A portable lift is available to access the pool. Large umbrellas provide shaded seating areas. Family changing rooms are available along with indoor and outdoor showers and lockers.

The Hike-Bike Trail is paved and relatively flat. Bicycle repair stations on the trail can double as wheelchair repair stations. The bike rental at Eastwood Beach has a handcycle for rental. The handcycle can be used on the paved hike bike trail or the first loop of the Shelden Trail.

The playground is located at Eastwood Beach. It features a tot, belt, and harness swings, and transfer stations on both playscapes.
Shelden Trails
The Shelden Trails allow for hiking and biking in different directions. The first loop will be the easiest for handcycles. Handcycles are only allowed on the Grom and Beach loops.
The Landing
The Landing is a new boat launch area. Four private unisex restrooms are available with a toilet, urinal, baby changing table, and a bench that can be used for an adult changing table. Two accessible water fountains are available as well. All benches at the landing have wheelchair parking next to them. An accessible pathway leads to the lake with three accessible bench areas and two accessible picnic areas with grills.

Farm Center
The Farm Center has concrete and gravel pathways that are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. The restroom, Farm Office, and most of the animal barns are wheelchair accessible. There can be loud noises and smells that guests aren’t used to. Sensory-friendly backpacks are available for checkout. The wagon has a wheelchair lift for visitors to enjoy hayrides.
Historic Center
The Historic Center has a combination of concrete, gravel, brick, and wooden boardwalk pathways that traverse hills. Restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
North Branch Trails
There are 4.25 miles of paved trails with a few short hills near the river
