The food and drink scene continues to grow in Wayne County. Whether you’re looking for a cocktail, a glass of wine, or a cold beer, you’ll find spots in every area throughout the county. Some stick out for their cool drinks or unique vibes. If you’re exploring Wayne County, here are some spots where you can grab a great drink.
The Iron Gate in Wyandotte
Looking for a cool cocktail bar with good vibes? That’s The Iron Gate. It’s located right in Downtown Wyandotte and serves cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks.
Some of their unique cocktails include the “Carrot Boi” which comes with vodka, pineapple, ginger, lemon and carrot; or the “High 75” which comes with Japanese whisky, lemon, honey, absinthe and champagne.
If you’re looking to sip on a drink as well, they have a large whiskey list.
The Ebenezer in Plymouth
A speakeasy in Downtown Plymouth hidden in a former bank, The Ebenezer is named for the first president of the bank. The old bank’s vault is still the bar’s private tasting room.
The bar has a list of classic cocktails like an old fashioned, but it also has a list of a dozen specialty cocktails.
Those specialty cocktails include the “Smoke and Pancake” with bacon-washed Buffalo Trace bourbon, maple syrup and black walnut bitters; “Tequila Mockingbird” with tequila, anchos reyes verde, house-made cinnamon syrup, house-made grenadine and lime; or “Ebenezer” which has Glenlivet 14-year Scotch, Hennessy Vsop, Cocchi Di Torino, Benedictine, Angostura & Paychaud’s bitters.
Old Pony Martini Pub in Grosse Pointe
The Old Pony Martini Pub is in the village business district of Grosse Pointe with a large list of signature martinis made with vodka, gin, bourbon or tequila. It also have different signature cocktails and mules.
The bar also has a list of craft and domestic beers if you’re looking for a pint.
They also have happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with drink specials and then a tie loosener from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with other drink specials. Tuesday is pint night, Wednesday is martini night, Thursday is mule night and Saturday is long night.
Rusted Crow in Dearborn Heights
Rusted Crow is a distillery making their own spirits right in Dearborn Heights, but you can head to the distillery to try their products and get some great cocktails.
If you want to try their products, they offer flights where you can taste four spirits. Rusted Crow also has a large cocktail list with drinks like “The Velveteen Rabbit” which is made with bourbon, grapefruit, lemon and raspberries. If you don’t drink, they do have some mocktails.
Finally, you can also get some drinks to go and enjoy at home.
The Black Salt in Hamtramck
This cocktail bar in a historic Hamtramck building is a witchcraft cocktail bar that serves up spell cocktails, classic cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktails and other drinks.
What is a spell cocktail? It’s made by a bartender who performs a small ritual during the preparation and then you complete the ritual by following instructions on the menu. They can be made with or without alcohol.
The Vault in Wyandotte
While The Vault is a steakhouse located in Downtown Wyandotte, you can pop in for a drink and hang at the bar.
There is a nice wine and beer list, as well as signature cocktails and signature Patron cocktails. The “Gold Medal” comes with house Maker’s Mark brown butter bourbon and brugal anejo rum. The Valut even has a couple of non-alcoholic mocktails.
Arbor Brewing Company in Plymouth
Arbor Brewing Company has been making delicious craft beers for nearly two decades in metro Detroit.
The taproom in Downtown Plymouth has more than a dozen beers of draft, ranging from IPAs and fruit ales to pilsners, lagers and blonde ales.
Downey Brewing Company in Dearborn
Downey is located in a business and warehouse district in Ferndale, but has a great space for you to enjoy a cold beer and play some games.
They have flagship beers including IPAs, a stout and a raspberry wheat ale, plus a variety of seasonal beers that change as the year goes on.
Bierkeller in Taylor
You can get spirits and cocktails at Bierkeller, but as the name suggests, you’ll be able to find a ton of different beers.
Bierkeller serves up IPAs, wheat beers, stouts, pilsners and others from around the country and world. You can also check out their German bier list which includes lagers, hefeweizens, pilsners, bocks and more.
Cellar 313 in Grosse Pointe Park
Located right on Kercheval in Grosse Pointe Park, Cellar 313 has a large list of wine from around the world. You can try crisp white wine, a great red wine, different sparking wine and róses with more than 100 options.
If you’re not wanting a wine, they have a beer list, spirit list and more than a dozen unique cocktails.
