DETROIT_ Detroit ACE (Arts, Culture, and Entrepreneurship) is thrilled to kick off the summer with the Mural Hunter Cookout at 4 p.m. Friday, June 23 at the Butzel Family Center to recruit mural hunters and celebrate the Detroit Mural Map!
Launched in 2022, the Detroit Mural Map, a digital museum of every mural in the city, has grown to include more 400 works of city street art.
ACE encourages photographers, residents and tourists to become Mural Hunters and “Hunt Murals” at a time where they’re rising faster than ever before. The Cookout launches the Mural Hunter Contest to continue photographing murals to add to the map; The most prolific mural photographers who capture the newest murals will receive prizes!
• 4:00 p.m. Remarks from Rochelle Riley, Director of Arts and Culture, Waleed Johnson and Sheefy McFly, who also will guest DJ! Sheefy is known as Detroit's Cultural Mascot, and Waleed Johnson is a native Detroiter who completed the city’s 100th mural in the City Walls fellowship program.
