DETROIT, MI (Oct. 26, 2023) – TravelMag, a digital publication that explores off-the-grid destinations from around the globe, has named Romeo, Michigan, as one of the best Towns and Small Cities for Halloween celebrations in the United States. TravelMag focused on destinations that offer a unique take that goes beyond just decorations and handing out candy to communities that bring multiple generations together for a “seriously spooky celebration”.
From TravelMag’s article on Romeo: “This small Midwestern town of Romeo is renowned for its enchanting Halloween celebrations, with “Terror on Tilson Street” the pièce de résistance. Each year, the town draws thousands of visitors as local residents decorate their historic homes along Tilson Street, turning it into a mesmerizing spectacle. Elaborate and macabre decorations, including intricate pumpkin carvings, ghoulish animatronics, and hauntingly beautiful light displays, adorn the houses.”
“Romeo’s ‘Terror on Tilson Street’ creativity and community spirit epitomizes what is so special about Macomb County and the Detroit region,” said Visit Detroit President and CEO Claude Molinari. “TravelMag’s recognition is a fantastic validation of our region as a great place to visit all year long. Millions of visitors are coming to Southeast Michigan each year for our music, culture and authentic experiences like Romeo’s exceptional festival scene.”
“Tilson Street is one of Macomb County’s most celebrated Halloween attractions,” said Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel. “Each year, thousands of visitors come to experience the community driven excitement created in the Village of Romeo.”
