Michigan Art Fairs and Festivals to Attend this Summer
Modified: March 16, 2020You don’t have to be in the market for a masterpiece to enjoy all the art fairs and festivals metro Detroit has to offer this summer. Most of these events also offer a variety of culinary delights and live entertainment. Plus, they give you an excuse to get outside. Here are a few of our favorites:
- Art Birmingham
May 7-8
This Mother’s Day weekend tradition celebrates its 35th annual return to Shain Park “” downtown Birmingham’s newly and extensively redesigned city park “” by showcasing more than 150 juried artists. - Art on the Grand
June 4-5
Stroll Grand River Avenue through downtown Farmington while you see the works of 100 artists from across the country. There will be hands-on art activities for kids, along with demonstrations, too. - Mt. Clemens Art Fair
June 4-5
Peruse artwork from all mediums, including ceramics, painting, photography, jewelry, metalwork and mixed media, and enjoy the children’s activity area and live entertainment. - Berkley Art Bash
June 11
Enjoy live local bands, kids inflatables and crafts, food trucks, and more than 100 artists and exhibitions. - Trenton Summer Festival
June 24-26
Enjoy arts and crafts displays, food vendors, sporting tournaments, a kid’s area and entertainers who will fill the stages all weekend long. - Art in the Park
July 8-10
This Plymouth staple will showcase thousands of pieces of original artwork from 400-plus artists from the United States and Canada. - Wyandotte Street Art Fair
July 13-16
Going strong since 1961, the Wyandotte Street Art Fair spans six blocks filled with art, music, food and activities for all ages. - Ann Arbor Street Art Fair
July 21-24
Ann Arbor’s downtown campus and retail areas are filled with hundreds of contemporary and traditional artists during this four-day event. Expect a mix of innovative and modern art forms as well as older crafts, such as ceramics and wood. - Sterlingfest
July 28-30
Held at Dodge Park in Sterling Heights, this event’s unique combination of arts and crafts, music, food and fun means three days of sun-drenched, summertime delight. - Orchard Lake Fine Art Show
July 30-31
This West Bloomfield show is a Michigan summer staple you won’t want to miss. Expect beautiful art, a wonderful crowd and tons of awesome nearby food. - Allen Park Street Fair
Aug. 5-6
Discover Downriver at the Allen Park Street Fair. You’ll find food, live entertainment, craft stands and more at this annual neighborhood celebration. - Belle Isle Art Fair
Aug. 6-7
Don’t miss this new juried art fair that will be held on Detroit’s Belle Isle. More than 80 artists will display their works near the James Scott Memorial Fountain. - Arts, Beats and Eats
Sept. 2-5
This annual Royal Oak event is an entertainment, crafts and fare-filled summer festival that’s fun for the whole family. Look for D-Rover at this event and get more information about other attractions in metro Detroit.
- Art and Apples Festival
Sept. 9-11
A place where the art of the apple pie and other delicious apple eats are appreciated. Apples aren’t the only thing appreciated at this festival. Artists from across the land meet and display their oil paintings, metal art, fine photography and hand-created pieces. The array of art can only be described as “awesome.”
