Are you looking for the top dessert spots to visit? Look no further, because I am about to give you my top favorite dessert shop everyone should try.
My name is Hanan, from @detroithalaleats, and I guess you can call me a food expert. Today I have created a list of my favorite dessert shops and desserts you should all try.
House of Chimney Cakes | @hcc_dearborn
This is one of my favorite dessert places to visit. The House of Chimney Cakes offers premium desserts created by a Michelin Star chef. The taste and flavors, along with these instagrammable ice cream creations are everything. I still remember when I was in California, I stumbled upon this store and immediately fell in love. When they said they would be opening up a location in Dearborn, I was in awe! If you want an amazing soft serve, and a great experience, The House of Chimney Cakes is the place to be.
Melt N Dip | @meltndip.us
Melt N Dip is a Chicago-based franchise that has locations in the U.S, Canada, and in the Middle East. They are known for their Belgian chocolate fountains that are beautifully displayed and used in their premium desserts, such as their waffles, crepes, and more. The chocolate is so rich, that one bite will leave you satisfied.
Gâteaux Pâtisserie | @gateauxpatisserie_
The newly remodeled whimsical, the cozy-chic bakery offers freshly baked, scratch-made pastries, cakes, macarons, croissants, coffee, tea, and more. They have dozens of elegant, elaborate, rich Parisian desserts to choose from.
The Custard Co. | @thecustardco
The Custard Co is an ice cream shop that specializes in creating top-quality frozen treats. This shop is located in Dearborn and opened its second location last month in Dearborn Heights, and now offers a drive-thru in that location. They are known for their sweet buns and loaded cones. The sweet bun is their special hot pressed donut that’s filled with your choice of ice cream and an endless assortment of toppings. The loaded cones are pretty awesome, they take a soft serve cone, add a hole in the middle, and fill it with your favorite filling, whether it is sprinkles, peanut butter, or fudge sauce. I recently had some out-of-town family visit us, and I knew I had to take them to Custard Co.
Choco Mania Cafe | @choco_mania_cafe
This European cafe is technically outside the Metro Detroit area, but I had to put it on the list! Located in Sterling Heights, their unique items drew me to pay them a visit. They have everything from freakshakes, crepes, and rolled ice cream to acai bowls, fresh juices, Turkish coffee, and even exotic snacks. The staff takes their time creating and perfecting each and every item. Definitely an experience you have to try for yourself. Plus there’s a Youtuber, Dani Razooqi, that makes your rolled ice cream experience a one-of-a-kind.
Shatila Bakery | @shatilabakery
This is probably one of the most well-known Middle Eastern bakeries in Dearborn. They specialize in Middle Eastern pastries, ice cream, fresh juices, and baklava. Shatila is most known for its baklava, and people have said that it’s the best baklava they have ever had, and it’s hard to disagree. I have seen so many out-of-towners go to Shatila and take boxes and boxes of their baklava to take home with them. Whenever I go out of town, I like to pick up a box or two of the baklava and give it to friends and family as a gift. I even like to bring my out-of-town guests here to experience it firsthand.
La Gelati | @la.gelati
La Gelati’s motto is “The Factory of Happiness”, and they do live up to it. With four different locations, they are serving you from Canton, West Dearborn, Dearborn, and Dearborn Heights. My favorite thing to get from here is the crepes. They have unique specialty crepes, such as the fettuccine, and the sushi crepe.
Booza Delight | @booza_delight
This new frozen treat shop recently opened up this summer in Dearborn Heights, and I love it. Booza ice cream is a rich, handmade, all-natural, frozen treat that originated in the Eastern Mediterranean region, particularly throughout Lebanon and Syria. This business started from home and eventually opened up a storefront because everyone loved it. If you haven’t tried their signature Ashta rolled ice cream, then you are missing out.
PappaRoti | @papparotius
PappaRoti is a successful cafe chain that has flourished all over the world and now made its way to the US. Their downright delicious coffee caramel buns are their specialty. These coffee buns paired with karak tea, make it the perfect duo. They currently are working on opening a Dearborn location.
Treat You Batter | @treatyoubatter
If you’re looking for the best cookies in town, look no further. Treat You Batter, not only has amazing cookies but also has the best iced Cuban coffee I’ve ever had. This small, family-owned business takes pride in its cookies and is on a strict cookie schedule. They have a cookie menu that rotates daily so you can try different cookies every day of the week, without getting tired of the same one.
