Each year millions of visitors rev their engines in the Motor City as they attend events focused on the past, present and future of the auto industry.
For a more contemporary look at the state of the automotive industry, make sure to set aside time in January for the North American International Auto Show. After that, take a ride on the wilde side when Autorama, America's premier custom car show, rolls into The D. Or join us in May for the annual National Transportation Week festivities, which celebrates all modes of transportation.
In summer car cruises take over The D with Cruisin' Gratiot, Cruisin' Downriver and the granddaddy of them all -- the Woodward Dream Cruise. Held each August, the Woodward Dream Cruise is the world's largest one-day automotive event, drawing around 1.5 million people and 40,000 cars of all kinds for a day of cruisin' along America's first highway.
In addition to the Woodward Dream Cruise, there are a slew of other car-centric events that take place each August -- that's why we like to call it Autopalooza August. Featuring the 31st Annual Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance, RM Auctions' Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook, Back to the Bricks Cruise Weekend, NASCAR Nationwide 250 and Sprint Cup 400.
