The Whitney is pleased to announce the return of its popular Garden Parties for the summer season, along with the debut of a new Sunday afternoon event series featuring themed dining experiences and live music.
A long-standing warm-weather tradition in Detroit, the Whitney Garden Parties invite guests to enjoy an evening of live entertainment in a historic outdoor setting. This year’s series promises an expanded lineup and a fresh addition of Sunday programming designed to enhance the summer experience.

Brian Raleigh has been in the fight long enough to know the odds, but he still refuses to quit. After years fronting Porchsleeper and Fidrych (plus plenty of under-the-radar projects), he formed Television City in 2017. The band released its self-titled debut album in 2018, followed by a series of singles, including “Henry & The H-Bombs,” which was recently named one of Sonic Coast Radio’s Michigan Top 25 Local Songs of 2025.
The band mixes a roots rocker’s love of strong melodies, a passion for big guitars, and an aging punk’s energy and sharp wit, all delivered with genuine heart and soul.
Influenced by the Replacements, Springsteen, and Tom Petty, Television City delivers hooky, shout-along rock for Saturday nights that still works on Wednesday. Raleigh writes the songs, sings lead, and plays guitar, joined by a strong lineup: guitar hero Garret Bielaniec, bassist Sam Vail, Dave Feeny on pedal steel and keys, and drummer Steve Bekkala.
With great songs, solid players, and the perfect balance of melody and volume, Television City is the kind of band that reminds you why you fell in love with rock & roll in the first place… without any regrets the next morning.
