The buzz about Detroit is hot, so the city rocks around the clock. If you’re planning an evening out in Detroit, make these activities part of your rounds.

A Night Out in Detroit

1. Hit the Lanes

Fowling, feather bowling and bowling have become popular evening activities in Detroit. Try classic bowling and arcade games at Punch Bowl Social, head to Hamtramck to the Fowling Warehouse if you want to combine football and bowling, or make a stop at Cadieux Cafe for feather bowling.

2. Catch a show or concert

There’s always something (or someone) spectacular in town, from a musical at the Fisher or Fox theatres to a symphony at Orchestra Hall. Plus, huge names in the music industry always make sure to stop in Detroit at Ford Field, the Fillmore and Little Caesars Arena. Check out upcoming concerts in our events listings.

3. Check out the craft beer scene

Detroit brews some seriously delicious beers, and you could make a career out of sampling them all. Try Founders, Jolly Pumpkin, Grand Trunk Pub, HopCat Detroit, Atwater, Detroit Beer Co., MotorCity Brewing Works or Green Dot Stables. Check out our full collection of the best breweries and wineries in Detroit here.

4. Have a fancy cocktail

OK, maybe you’re not in the mood for beer. You can find some pretty unique drinks on the menu at plenty of Detroit’s best restaurants. Townhouse and Cornerstone Barrel House are great for whiskey, Detroit City Distillery makes amazing vodka, gin and whiskey, and Two James Spirits has a little bit of everything. If you’re looking for interesting craft cocktails, Sugar House and Bad Luck Bar are great options. Get your tiki bar fix at Lost River in Mexicantown, and go for a full sensory cocktail experience at Sfumato.

5. Don’t skip dessert

If you want to end your night with something sweet, you have plenty of options. Check out Astoria Pastry Shop or Treat Dreams.

6. Be a sports fan

Detroit’s sports culture is thriving. Depending on the time of year, grab tickets to see the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings or Pistons. Now that all four teams play downtown, there’s a sporting event going on almost every night. Check out our Detroit events to see which teams are in town.

7. Take a stroll

If the weather’s right, take in the sights – and walk off your dinner and drinks – with a stroll along the Detroit RiverWalk.
