Back in the day, Woodward Avenue was lined with specialty shops and stores, anchored by the mega-department store, Hudson’s. Woodward Avenue has been completely transformed in recent years, paying homage to the former shopping district. Big brands like Nike Community Store and Lululemon Athletica have opened their doors along the famous corridor drawing in shoppers.
But don’t let the big names intimidate you; Detroit staples are also sprinkled along Woodward Avenue. Shops like Rebel Nell (a social enterprise that sells Detroit women-made jewelry) and The Lip Bar (a women of color-owned viral beauty brand) are downtown and give you the opportunity to shop Detroit-owned.
Head north on Woodward Avenue and you’ll find yourself in Midtown – booming with boutiques. Check out Luxe Redux Bridal.

DeVries & Co. is a gourmet grocery shop most notably known for its impressive selection of cheeses, but it also boasts a third floor of fun gifts and gadgets for all ages.
Swing by the second location of Rebel Nell for uniquely Detroit jewelry and souvenirs. Think: fallen paint from Detroit murals transformed into bracelet charms, wine stoppers made from reclaimed Detroit materials, or Detroit Lions jewelry made from real players jackets from the 1957 championship season.
From fresh produce to the latest trends, Eastern Market has you covered!

The D is known for cars, Coneys and the Motown sound, but you probably didn’t know we’re pretty serious about our fashion. So much so, that an entire area of northwest Detroit is dedicated to fashion — the historic Avenue of Fashion.
Before malls existed, this area was a destination for luxury shopping, affectionately referred to as “The Avenue of Fashion.” This stretch of Livernois has a rich American jazz legacy and an African-American cultural heritage that has shaped the arts and businesses on the strip.
The area is now home to a variety of retail, restaurants and small businesses. Shop and dine your way up and down Livernois, and be sure to stop at The Shoe Box, Sherwood Forest Art Gallery, Three Thirteen, Teasers Boutique, and Good Cakes and Bakes.
The D is home to a network of designers and entrepreneurs working hard to put Detroit on the map as a fashion destination. Roslyn Karamoko of Detroit is the New Black, Ashley Harris of Drafted in Detroit, and Rami Noma of Renzo Cardoni are paving (or designing) the way for the city.
