Akeem Ali’s “Keemy Casanova” introduced listeners to his quick-witted rap and throwback 1970s persona. The Jackson, Mississippi, artist brings that playful character together with metaphor-heavy lyricism and soulful production on The Texture Tour, centered on the third installment of his Texture Tape series, The Texture Tape 3. Its tracks turn fabric names—including “Silk,” “Velvet” and “Mesh”—into a concept built around the textures of both clothing and sound.
