The Whitney is pleased to announce the return of its popular Garden Parties for the summer season, along with the debut of a new Sunday afternoon event series featuring themed dining experiences and live music.
A long-standing warm-weather tradition in Detroit, the Whitney Garden Parties invite guests to enjoy an evening of live entertainment in a historic outdoor setting. This year’s series promises an expanded lineup and a fresh addition of Sunday programming designed to enhance the summer experience.

From her trademark fedora and hand fan to her marvelous mix of Blues, Rock,Funk and R&B, multiple award winning Detroit born and raised singer Tosha Owens has the word ‘performer’ written all over her. While most singers struggle to create a unique Brand Identity for themselves, there’s no doubting what Tosha is all about and why audiences are always asking for more. Often compared to artists such as Gladys Knight, Etta James, Chaka Khan and Janis Joplin, Tosha delivers a unique sound and perfor-mance that no other Detroit singer can provide. “She’s gritty”. “She’s bluesy”. “She’s funky”. “She rocks”.A four-piece band from Clarkston, Michigan, One Ton Trolley offers their show in solo, duo, and trio formats. Their ability to accommodate the electric setting of the largest of stages, as well as the dynamics demanded by the smallest, most intimate venues, has fused what they call “small footprint, big sound”. Tosha’s album “Wrong Side of Right” is available on all streaming platforms.
