Brix Wine & Charcuterie Boutique
Head to Brix Wine & Charcuterie Boutique in Detroit’s West Village for the city’s only establishment with a menu dedicated to charcuterie boards.
According to Mikiah Westbrooks, co-owner of Brix Wine & Charcuterie Boutique, “people eat with their eyes first.” For that reason, she made a great effort to design charcuterie boards that were beautiful – and delicious.
Selections include domestic and imported meats, olive oil and vinaigrette with fresh bread, cheese, fruits, and more as well as options for plant-based eaters. The chef can also create customized charcuterie boards on demand.
In addition to charcuterie, Brix also has a wine menu with something for everyone, including wines sourced from Michigan to Australia.
Le Supreme
Le Supreme is one of Detroit’s newest restaurants, located inside the remodeled Book Tower.
The menu here is modeled after a French brasserie, so you can rest assured that there is a whole section dedicated to “fromages and charcuterie.”
Choose between a variety of artisanal French cheeses ($18 for three, or $30 for five) or opt for their “planche de charcuterie” ($29) which includes a selection of cured meats.
The Mixing Board
In the mood for charcuterie while catching a game or concert at Little Caesars Arena? Good news, there is actually an option inside the arena.
The Mixing Board is a new restaurant, focusing in made-from-scratch food and craft beers. Their menu features a charcuterie board for $28, with treats like salami, coppa, and sopprassata meats as well as habanero mango brick cheese, marcona almonds, and more.
The Royce
The Royce is a minority-owned wine bar and retail space, located a block off Woodward near downtown Detroit.
They carry wines from all of the major wine regions in the world, which you can pair with their build-your-own charcuterie menu.
The charcuterie meats selection is $9, and features chorizo, smoked duck breast, salami, summer sausage, and spicy beef. Mix-and-match across the rest of their food menu, with an extensive selection of cheeses, mustards, olives, chocolates, hot honey, fig preserves, tinned seafood, and more.
Wright & Company
Wright & Company is a small plates, fine dining restaurant in the heart of Detroit, located right on Woodward.
The menu here is designed for sharing, and that includes their artisanal cheese board. The cheeses, and their accompaniments, rotate on a regular basis so it’s never quite the same – except for always being paired with olive oil and flatbread.
Marrow
Marrow is a butcher shop and James Beard nominated restaurant in the West Village, and also the sister company of The Royce, mentioned above (#5). They specialize in whole animal butchering and zero-waste practices. Which means you can be sure to have some delicious meats on your charcuterie boards!
On their a la carte menu, order “the Marrow mix” for $15, which features one local cheese, one meat, crackers, mustard, jam, and pickles.
